Full description

In corner of garden of 'Great Yard' a Neolithic quern found, also a large octagonal stone (but with two corners cut off) about 1.8m (6 feet) across and 60cm (2 feet) thick, having a central hole with marks of iron.

Informant [1] believes this to have been a cross base (but how does the iron fit it?). Both retained by owner of property. Information given by [1] to E. Rose (NAU), 25 August 1977.

Informant [2] says he has seen an old postcard showing 'Stiffkey Bridge and cross'.
E. Rose (NAU), 10 May 1982.
