Summary

This is the site of the deserted medieval settlement of Little Snarehill. Architectural fragments found on the site in the early 20th century suggest the presence of a church in the village. A warrener's lodge, shown on a map of 1740, was built on the site of the village.

Full description

Site of Little Snarehill deserted village and possibly church.
Domesday Book refers to two settlements called Snarehill, see NHER 5962 for the site of Great Snarehill.
Site perhaps later occupied by warrener's lodge, shown on Martin's map of 1740, see (S1).

The site described above was not possible to discern on the available aerial photographs, although a series of linear earthworks were visible to the north, and have been recorded as NHER 54552. Cropmarks that may also be related to the site have been recorded as NHER 54550.
