Full description

September 2005. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of ditches of unknown and medieval to post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs (S1) and (S2). These cropmarks are centred on TG 4575 1412. A total of 15 sections of ditch cropmark are present in this group. Two parallel ditch cropmarks are present in the centre of the group on a west to east alignment. These correspond to the modern field pattern and it is likely that they relate to a post medieval field boundary. Similarly a west to east aligned ditch, that extends between TG 4569 1418 and TG 4579 1419, and a ditch aligned perpendicular to its north are also likely to be a post medieval field boundaries. Two perpendicular aligned ditches in the south of the group at TG 4580 1395 may also be of this date. One of these ditches is aligned southwest to northeast and appears to join the southwest corner of an existing area of woodland. The remaining ditch cropmarks are all located in the northern part of the group. These comprise only of short sections of ditch on a variety of different alignments and are of unknown date.
