Full description
Former Rectory, built 1842 by S. S. Teulon in Tudor style Red brick, yellow brick dressings.
Tiled roof.
2 storey west front of three bays, centre bay projects with octagonal finial; two small gables over flanking bays have parapet and dentils.
Dripmoulds to windows.
Ground floor has central large canted bay with battlements.
Chimneys with diagonal brick shafts.
Conservatory on south.
North side has square bay window with battlements and arms; porch to one side with arch and date.
To east are stables in same style, one storey and attic, central gable over carriage doors, bellcote above. To each side, stable doors with gabled loft doors.
To southeast, further stables, here of flint, with shaped ridge tiles. Gables over doors at each end.
Open cart shed with arched loft door in gable. Small central gabled lantern to pigeon loft.
See (S1).
An unattributed reference to 'a cruciform Tudoresque building with central tower which is said to be a copy of the Old Rectory which stood where the present rectory is' may be a very confused version of this; no other building in the parish fits this description.
E. Rose (NLA), 19 March 2005.
