Full description
January 2003. Norfolk NMP.
A sea defence bank can be clearly seen on RAF 1946 (S1), Hunting Survey 1969 (S2), NLA 1977 (S3) and Ordnance Survey 1995 (S4) aerial photographs. It runs for over 1km from TG0158 4402 to TG0257 4409. The date of this bank is uncertain, however it is shown on the 25 inch 2nd edition Ordnance Survey map (S5) is also visible on the 1 inch and 1:10560 1st edition Ordnance Survey maps (S6) and (S7) which would suggest at least a post medieval date. It would seem to form a part of the local sea defences in this area.

Inter-tidal survey (Environmental Zone 11), Context 981:
A modern sea defence bank was recorded on the southern edge of the saltmarsh between TG 01640 44010 and TG 01865 44073. It may conceal an earlier bank or banks.
