Full description
The site of the first pre stressed concrete bridge in Britain, and said to be the first to be constructed by council staff rather than civil engineers. It was built in 1949, located upstream from an earlier bridge. The bridge was demolished in 1991, having developed cracks, and replaced by a new bridge on the site.

However, the claim to be the first pre stressed concrete bridge in Britain is disputed by the Concrete Society who say that it was Nuns Bridge, Fishoft, Lincolnshire, in 1946.
