Full description

October 2001. Metal detecting.
Middle Saxon/Late Saxon copper alloy strap end, Thomas's 'Type A', animal head terminal with prominent ears, notches with engraved line along border, crudely engraved rectangular panel with deeply cut notched decoration, upper section of face missing where split for attachment, three rivet holes, one with copper alloy rivet, much iron staining around lower (secondary) hole. 12 x 45mm. 9th century.
