Summary

This post medieval timber framed house has plastered walls and a thatched roof. It may have been originally constructed as a hall house in the 15th century. The first floor and the chimneystack appear to have been inserted at a later date, possibly in the early 16th century. There are apotropaic marks on the fireplaces and an early post medieval shoe containing a wooden needle (a device to deter evil spirits) was found in the chimney. A single storey extension was added in the 19th or 20th centuries.
