Name:Possible Iron Age yoke terminal

Summary

Metal-detecting in 1999 recovered an unusual U-shaped copper alloy object that was subsequently identified as potentially an Iron Age yoke terminal. A fieldwalking and metal-detecting survey of part of this field in 2008 recovered objects of predominantly post-medieval date, including pottery sherds, roof tiles and a small number of metal objects. The only earlier finds was a pottery sherd of Roman or medieval date.

The Iron Age yoke terminal found in 1999 was sold at TimeLine Auctions on 14 March, 4 May or 8 June 2013 as a Celtic bronze scabbard chape.

March-April 2008. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey. Site extended to whole field.
Field survey on proposed route of Sheringham Shoals Offshore Windfarm Grid Connection (Field 2).
Finds recovered included:
1 prehistoric retouched flint flake, 1 blade and 1 struck fragment.
1 Roman or medieval pottery sherd.
4 post-medieval pottery sherds, 1 roof tile, 1 pantile, 1 shoe buckle, 1 watch face and 1 lead musket ball.
1 undatable lead waste fragment and 1 iron ?button fragment.
