Summary
In 1963 part of a tunnel system was discovered during the demolition of 19th century cottages. The galleries were around 2.4m diameter, though the full system was not explored. An iron pick, probably medieval in date, was found in one of the shafts. These are likely to be associated with the flint or chalk mining that occurred across the Norwich area in the medieval and post medieval periods.
