Summary

Metal detecting and fieldwalking has recovered a large number of finds dating from the Neolithic to the post medieval period. These include two Neolithic polished axeheads, fragments of a Bronze Age rapier, an Iron Age terret, a Roman Hod Hill brooch, a Middle Saxon caterpillar brooch, a Late Saxon stirrup-strap mount, a medieval dagger chape and a 19th century ring brooch.

1980. Stray Find.
Neolithic polished stone axehead. Greenstone, 12cm long, worn and damaged. See outline sketch (S2).

Late Bronze Age/Iron Age rim sherd of West Harling/Staple Howe type; Roman sherds.

Medieval bronze strap end, rectangular, two piece, tiny terminal, two rivets; two pairs of transverse grooved decoration and rocker arm X on front face.
Bronze? Late Saxon finger ring with tapering terminals, decorated with diagonal engraved grooves.
