Full description

Occupant claims the present building has been a workhouse since the 17th century, but present exterior seems early 19th century, with blocked central doorway. Brick and flint construction. However some wooden beams inside could be older. Interior not fully seen.
Visited E. Rose (NAU) 30 April 1975.

It would seem probable that this is the second workhouse, built after the sale of the old one in 1828.
See details in file.
E. Rose (NLA) 28 May 1998.
