Summary

Metal-detecting between 1996 and 2016 recovered prehistoric worked flint; Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval and post-medieval jettons and tokens and Late Iron Age to Roman and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include an Iron Age/Roman brooch; a Late Saxon bridle cheek piece and strap-end; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; medieval spindle whorls, a thimble, seal matrix, ampulla, purse frame, scabbard chape, bell, crotal bell, finger ring, harness pendant, key and lead and copper alloy vessel feet and handles; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy rings and a scabbard chape and post-medieval lead weights, a cloth seal, crotal bell, harness fitting, furniture fitting and soldering lamp.

Medieval flat circular lead seal matrix, now incomplete, 29mm in diameter. There is some decoration on the reverse, with a central boss surrounded by two concentric ridges, plus a ridge running from the boss to an unpierced lug at the top. The central motif is an 8-pointed star, with legend around reading *SIGILL ELMI…ThOME (Seal of Elmi?) this name is very unclear and part is missing] [son of] Thomas). 13th century.
Post medieval 17th century harness boss, with domed centre and openwork decoration.
