A circular medieval mount, made of gilded copper alloy, decorated with the motif of an animal raising its front paw, found by metal detecting.

Medieval gilded copper alloy circular mount (diameter 21mm) with 4 pierced lobes placed symetrically (making total diameter 28mm). Quadruped with raised front paw in low relief, eating its own tail which ends in a leaf. Ribs of animal are shown. Lovely, very unusual. 12th/13th century.
