Name:Site of Roman settlement and coin hoard, East Winch and Gayton

Summary

The amount of Roman pottery, building material, coins, including a hoard of radiate coins and associated manufacturing material, and other Roman metalwork found by fieldwalking and metal detecting suggest that this is the site of a Roman settlement. A Late Bronze Age knife, an Iron Age harness fitting, an Early Saxon brooch, Late Saxon pottery and medieval and post medieval pottery and metalwork have also been found by metal detecting on the site.
