Summary
Metal detecting in 1988 recovered a broken and melted piece of brass and a Roman Antoninianus coin of Gordian III from a heap of earth moved during the construction of the Kirby Cane bypass.

Full description
August 1988. Found on spoil heap beside bypass construction work.
Gold fragment 8g weight.
Possibly piece of broken and partly melted torc.
Re-identified by British Museum as brass, so origin unknown.

Antoninianus of Gordian III 'Concordia Aug' found in same dump 30cm from above fragment.
