Summary

Metal-detecting and fieldwalking between 1989 and 2013 recovered prehistoric worked flint and an Early Bronze Age stone mace fragment; Iron Age, Roman and medieval pottery sherds; Roman brick fragments; a Roman shale bead; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval token and Roman, Early Saxon and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include Roman, Early Saxon and medieval brooches; a Roman bracelet fragment, box, pin, furniture fitting, pot mend, razor, steelyard weight and tweezers; medieval dress accessories, an ampulla, part of a candlestick, a strap fitting, pot mend, weight, copper alloy vessel fragment and part of a harness; a medieval/post-medieval lead spindle whorl and a post-medieval buckle, bell, cloth seal, furniture fitting, Jew's harp, musket ball, seal, spoon and weight. There is also undated evidence for metalworking on the site.
