Summary
Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered a scatter of prehistoric flints and medieval pottery. One pieces of Roman pottery was recorded. A concentration of Iron Age pottery and possibly associated prehistoric burnt flints was also identified.

Full description
7 March 1988. Fenland fieldwalking. South of The Pits.
Part ploughed and well weathered, part under weeds and bean rubbish.
Context 1. HLG BZ.
Odd flints, medieval pottery and one Roman sherd in northwest corner of field.
Context 2 at 6191 9786. HLG 21.
Spread of Iron Age flint gritted pottery, sparse but really needs to be checked under better conditions. Also occasional
pot boilers, related? Odd fragments of burnt pebble and quite a lot of medieval pottery as well. About 48m east to west x 42m north to south at 5.8m OD.
