Summary
Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered a scatter of prehistoric worked flints and pottery. A concentration of Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age flints and Late Bronze Age or Iron Age pottery was recorded. A second concentration of prehistoric burnt flints was also noted.

Full description
21 December 1987. Fenland fieldwalking. Field east of Old Roof Wood.
Young cereal, weathered soil.
Context 1. HLG BH.
Odd flints and prehistoric sherds across field, also pot boilers in northwest corner. Sherds re-identified as Iron Age.
Context 2 at 6229 9668. HLG BG.
Few prehistoric sherds possibly related to context 3. Re-identified as Iron Age.
Context 3 at 6223 9664. HLG 10.
Spread of sparse pottery and sparse flint across sandy knoll and down gentle northwest side. Pottery now assessed as
Iron Age so flint probably of earlier period. Minimum 87m east to west x 53m north to south at 5.5m OD. F. Healy (NAU) says flint Bronze Age.
Context 4 at 6218 9659. HLG 11.
Concentration sparse pot boilers on slope of island above peat inlet, sandy soil. 35m east to west x 26m north to south at 4.6m OD.
