Summary
Metal-detecting between 1989 and 2013 recovered prehistoric worked flint, including a Neolithic leaf-shaped arrowhead; undated, Roman, Early to Late Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; medieval roof tile fragments;
Iron Age, Roman and Middle Saxon coins; post-medieval jettons and undated and Bronze Age to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include undated metalworking debris, weights and a steelyard weight; a Bronze Age awl; Iron Age bow brooch, a toggle and harness fittings; Roman brooches, finger rings, bells, bracelet fragments, a bead, key, nail, stud, steelyard weight and furniture fittings; an Early Saxon brooch, wrist clasp, girdle hanger and harness fitting; a Middle Saxon brooch, hooked tag, strap fitting and pin; a #Middle/Late Saxon book clasp; a Late Saxon brooch, buckle, hooked tag, strap-end and harness fitting; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories, weights and thimbles; medieval brooches, an ampulla, book clasp, finger ring, chain, key, seal matrix, lead pots mends and a cauldron fragment and a post-medieval bell, candle holder, finger ring, furniture fitting, rowel spur, tack and spoon.
The Early Saxon objects recovered indicate that this is the site of an Early Saxon inhumation cemetery.
The location of some of the finds recorded on this record may have been confused and they may in fact have been recovered from NHER 1659.

One stamped Early Saxon sherd.
Four Ipswich sandy body sherds.
About three dozen Thetford type ware sherds.
One sherd of shelly ware.
A few unglazed early medieval sherds.
One sherd Grimston green glazed, 13th to 14th century.
This appears to be more or less the real extent of the site to the southwest.

One rim (large sherd) and three bodysherds with high organic temper, Early Saxon.
Three medieval unglazed.

One post-medieval stoneware sherd.

1997. Metal-detecting.
Medieval flat circular bronze mount with central oval collet, stone setting now missing. Decorated with an engraved double strand cross emerging from the collet, with oblique lines extending from the end of each arm to give an impression of expanded arms. The rest of the space is filled with groups of parallel lines set in an uneven herringbone pattern, and there is an engraved border around. The mount is 30mm in diameter and the collet in 9x7mm. Perhaps from a book cover. 13th century.
