Record Details

NHER Number:2182
Type of record:Building
Name:All Saints' Church, Kettlestone

Summary

A medieval and later parish church. The present church was built around 1300 and has an octagonal west tower, a nave, a chancel, a north aisle and a south porch. Alterations were made during the later 14th and 15th centuries and the chancel was rebuilt in 1869. Pieces of reused 11th and/or 12th century stonework in the porch and chancel suggest that there was an earlier church on the site. In 1865 the medieval rood screen survived, although there is no trace of it now. There is a piece of stonework by the porch that may have come from a medieval cross.
