Summary

Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting between 1985 and 2019 recovered prehistoric flints; Iron Age and medieval to post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; aswell as Roman, Late Saxon/medieval; and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include Roman brooches; a Late Saxon/medieval axehead; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; medieval thimbles, a key, mount, and vessel fragment; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragments, dress hooks and a purse fragment; and post-medieval crotal bells, and a dress fastener.

CROPMARKS OF A DESERTED MEDIEVAL VILLAGE PREVIOUSLY RECORDED UNDER THIS NUMBER ARE NOW RECORDED UNDER NHER 63402.

25 January 1985. Fieldwalking in poor conditions.
Uncertain whether this collection indicates occupation.
Scatter thinning to nil to north, and thinning to east, and in view of unweathered soil and rapidity of examination an occupation site is probably indicated.
All finds context 1. Metal-detecting survey.
Seven Grimston-Thetford including four bowl rims, one storage jar sherd.
10 glazed Grimston.
35 unglazed medieval.
Two glazed software (white inclusions).
One rim with white angular inclusions, prehistoric.
One copper alloy vessel sherd.
