Name:Site of Roman settlement and multi-period finds

Summary

This is the site of a Roman settlement, which continues under NHER 20763. Roman roof tiles and fragments of pottery have been found during field walking. Prehistoric flints, including prehistoric pot boilers, and fragments of pottery dating from the medieval and the post medieval periods have also been found.

Full description

1980 and 1983. Field walking. Ordnance field Great Fransham 274.
Large quantites of Roman pottery including Samian (1 repaired with rivet), calcite gritted, oxidised and flanged bowls, also tegulae.
Large quantities of medieval pottery including Grimston and Early medieval.
Post medieval sherds including stoneware and glazed red earthenware.
Worked flints.
