Summary
During a geological pollen survey a hollow was investigated. This contained evidence for Cannabis cultivation in the immediate area. The layer with cannabis pollen in it also contains large flints in a mixture of detritus and mud. The flint was used to weight down bundles of hemp during retting.

Full description
1983-1984. 'On a river terrace'. Found in geological fieldwork and pollen sampling.
Hollow with Flandrian sequence contains evidence in upper part of Cannabis cultivation in area. Horizon with cannabis pollen also contains large flints in a matrix of detritus and mud. Flint perhaps for weighting down bundles of hemp during retting.
