Summary

A large multi-period finds scatter, found by metal detecting. The scatter included some undated prehistoric flint flakes and a scraper, a Roman brooch in the shape of a dolphin, Roman coins and pottery, a medieval ring and other medieval metalwork, coins and pottery, and post medieval metalwork and coins.

Full description

1980. Context 1. Found on surface on 50ft contour while inspecting pylons.
Black thick sherd with trace of flange.
A. Gregory (NAU) states: Despite the similarity to Roman flanged bowl the fabric shows this must be medieval.
A. Rogerson (NAU) states: This is an eroded sherd of an Roman flanged bowl in greyware.
