Name: | Site of lime kiln and possible brick kiln |
---|
Summary
This limekiln had five furnaces. One has been broken, revealing bricks on the end forming a bell. The site is marked as a lime kiln on Great Snoring Tithe Map but as a brick kiln on Bryant's map of 1826. It is possible there was a brick kiln here too or that Bryant was mistaken.

Full description
Lime kiln.
Marked on (S1), still remains in good condition.
Information from (S2).
E. Rose (NAU), 31 October 1980.
Grid reference corrected on ground.
Fair condition, five furnaces, one broken revealing bricks on end forming bell.
E. M. James (KLM), 23 January 1981.
Shown on (S3) as brick kiln. Was there a brick kiln here as well or is this a mistake? (S3) often seems to put brick kilns where others put lime kilns.
