Summary

Fieldwalking and metal detecting since the 1950s have recovered a large number of Roman finds. These include pieces of samian, mortaria and other Roman pottery, metalworking debris and a 1st to 2nd century AD trumpet brooch. The samian pottery includes a decorated piece depicting a horseman wielding a spear.

Finds of Roman pottery, much samian (S1)-(S2) smelting slag and a utilised pebble (S3).

NOTE extreme west edge of site NHER 1553 now taken into site NHER 20199 - part of 1949 scatter?
