Summary

A number of unidentified cropmarks are visible on aerial photographs of this area. Metal detecting in 1989 recovered a variety of finds including six 1st to 2nd century AD coins, an Edward II coin, medieval pottery sherds, a late medieval belt chape and 16th and 17th century coins and jettons.

Full description

1974. South of ruined church of Bickerston. From ploughed surface. Context 2 at above grid reference.
Three pottery sherds, probably medieval.
Lack of surface scatter throws doubt on medieval occupation of area around church.

Soldino of Venice 1501-21 Doge Leonardo Loredano, galley halfpence.
