Two amphorae, possibly of Roman date, were found in the River Yare before 1955.

'Dredged from the river Yare, Gorleston, Norfolk'.
Old label on smaller of two amphorae, alledgedly Roman, offered for sale by  in January 1955.
Both in pinkish brown gritty paste, small one with serpulid barnacles etc. attached, large one clean.
A. Gregory (NAU) says (S1) are right in form for Roman but size is too small if they really are 1/1.
