Summary

The school was built in 1826 and is an example of an ornate gothic/Tudor building. The building is constructed from flint and brick with a slate roof. Repair work was undertaken in around 1960 exposed a cellar.

Full description

March 1978.
School (in village of Lower Street, Southrepps).
Large impressive mid 19th century building in Tudor-Gothic style, flint with yellow brick, Gothic porch and windows, angle turrets etcetera.

Dated 1826, but date added for jubilee in 1976.
Former caretaker told J. Lodey (NAU) in 1984 that during repairs about 1960 a 'cellar without any apparent access' was uncovered.

The school was built in 1826 with enlargement in 1877 and is an early example of an ornate gothic/tudor building. Many of the architectural features are reminiscent of those in the nearby Thorpe Market church, restored by the Gunton estate.
