Name:Bronze Age and Iron Age features at Bittering Quarry

Summary

In 1978 an excavation ahead of gravel quarrying revealed prehistoric features. They included two Bronze Age pits, a Bronze Age gully and twenty four Late Iron Age pits. Finds recovered included pottery and flint artefacts.

Sherds and pit complex formerly called Early Saxon, but reidentified as Iron Age.
