In 1961 Neolithic flint artefacts were found. It has been suggested that as the name 'Ringlehowe' appears on a 17th century map, there may once have been a Bronze Age round barrow on the site.

(S1) marks this area as Ringlehowe.
A. Lawson (NAU) suggests the name indicates a removed barrow.
