Found "near the town":
Medieval dagger guard.
In the collection of 'W. Laure' in 19th century. Picture in (S1).
Information from (S2).
This is presumably the dagger-guard described and illustrated in (S3). It is recorded as having been in the possession of a Mr W. Lawrie of Downham Markat and had apparently been found "…in a field in the Bexwell road, in 1857".
