Full description

Mentioned in Domesday. Later combined with Bycham to form Beechamwell.
OS inspector [1] found banks and hollows here 25 March 1955, and probed to find a hard surface at 1m deep, also the remains of 'cobbled walling' , 35m high and 1.5m long. Land had not been ploughed for 14 years.
However NHER 2635 is the more probable site for Wella deserted medieval village.

15 August 1979.
Site visited by E. Rose (NAU)
There are indeed banks and hollows here, but they do not form any recognisable pattern. Some are clearly an old pond.

1987 to 1988. Found with metal detecting and in fieldwalking.
Wall and features.
Finds of Bronze Age, Roman, Early Saxon (S1), Middle Saxon, Late Saxon, medieval and post medieval metalwork (S1), pottery, brooches, jettons etc.
E. Rose (NAU) 18 November 1987.
