Also called a pilgrim bottle.
A small lead bottle. Pilgrims wore ampullae hung around their neck. They contained holy water or scented oils. Often the vessel is decorated with simple designs or religious symbols that identify which pilgrimage site they came from. They mostly date to the medieval period.
