Full description

Site of St Mary's Church.
Destroyed at Reformation. Owners of Swainsthorpe Hall claimed that foundations are visible in winter when undergrowth is low, but when visited at such a season nothing visible; slight platform in wood above river, but this probably natural - edge coincides with contour line.

Fragments of human bone found in woodland near site of St Mary's church 12 inches - 18 inches (30cm - 45cm) deep. Fragments identified by W. F. Milligan (NCM) as parts of skull, pelvis and femur.
