Full description
Approximate line of suggested Roman road. Eastern section originally suggested by R. R. Clarke (NCM), including part of 'The Weye called Strete' on 1581 map, though this diverges southwards. Extended westwards to South Pickenham (and perhaps further) by P. Wade-Martins (NAU) from old maps.
See full publication of this section, with less probable southern route in (S1).
E. Rose (NAU) 3 April 1981.
This road may extend further to the west and connect with NHER 4595.
M. Dennis (NLA) 6 January 2004.
June-July 1996. Watching Brief.
Maintained during laying of water pipe. Although the pipe trench ran across and along the line of the Roman road there was no archaeological evidence for the routeway.
See report (S2) for further details.
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 4 March 2015.
