A restored early 19th century drainage mill. The mill is built of brick with a timber weatherboarded cap, four sails and a fantail.

Full description

Drainage mill. Built 1820.
Restored in 1949 to 1955; new sails 1962.
Weatherboarded, cap at odd straight section top above tapering body.
Visited by E. Rose (NAU) 29 May 1978.

Worked until about 1940.
Restored again 1981.

Revisited when open 28 August 1984; but sails removed for repair.
However fantail working. Main vertical shaft composed of square sectioned timbers bolted together and meeting at an iron joint in very low third storey (mill of four storeys). Small fireplace in base. Horizontal shaft to turbine on exterior.

The 'odd straight section' is an adddition made when the mill was converted from cloth to patent sails.

Since 2002, the sails have been run on selected open days. In 2008, restoration of the water pump itself was completed and a demonstration was planned on 11 May, but was not possible due to weather.
