Summary

In 1960 an area of black soil was noted here. Other such sites (NHER 1076 and 8479) have been identified as possible medieval hearths or pottery works. Subsequent fieldwalking in 1983 found sherds of medieval and post medieval pottery, although none within the area of burnt soil.

April 1960. 'Another area of black soil'.

Source [1] suggests another pottery production site.

28 June 1983. Fieldwalking in poor soil conditions.
Apparently no concentration of pottery in dark soil area, but general scatter; one handle, one jar rim, one bowl rim, two jug rims, eight sherds medieval unglazed. One base late medieval/transitional. One sherd post medieval stoneware.
