Record Details

NHER Number:6956
Type of record:Monument
Name:Pot boiler concentration, undated possible ditches and multi-period finds

Summary

Fieldwalking in the 1960s and 1970s recovered prehistoric flint flakes, scrapers and fabricators; two Neolithic polished axehead fragments and noted a concentration of pot boilers. A small number of Roman, Middle Saxon, Late Saxon and medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; a number of fragments of undated glass and metalworking debris were also recovered. In 1963 a short ditch complex was recorded, though whether this refers to a cropmark or to an excavation is unclear. Metal-detecting in 2002 and 2012-2013 recovered medieval and post-medieval coins as well as a small number of medieval and post-medieval metal objects.
