Name:Cropmarks of rectangular enclosures of possible Roman date

Summary

Two or three undated rectangular enclosures are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. These cropmarks were previously recorded under NHER 13042. The large collection of Roman finds recovered from this site suggests that the enclosures are likely of Roman date. See NHER 13042 for details of the finds.

THESE CROPMARKS WERE PREVIOUSLY RECORDED UNDER NHER 13042.

Cropmarks of two or three superimposed rectangles, on slightly different alignments.

April 2006.
The discovery of Roman artefacts on the site suggests that the enclosures could be of Roman date. If so they could have been associated with the small town/village site located to the northwest (NHER 4079). See NHER 13042 for details of the finds.
