1989. Field Observation.
Restoration work allowed access to the tower, believed to date to 1434. Each wall of the central stage has a large blocked opening, carefully faced over externally so as not to be visible. This pre-19th century work may indicate that the tower was originally designed with an extra level of openings.
These observations are noted in (S5).
