Name:Early Bronze Age hearth and pottery sherds on Overa Heath

Summary

A prehistoric hearth was excavated here in about 1931. Sherds of Early Bronze Age pottery and a barbed and tanged arrowhead of a similar date were recovered. Later drainage and deep ploughing in the 1970s failed to unearth any further finds.

Full description

Around 1931. Hearth excavated by [1]. North side of Overa Heath, north of railway line.
Sherds of Beaker and other pottery (?date) plus barbed and tanged arrowhead.

Information from (S2). Area drained 1971-72 and deep ploughed 1973, 1974, 1975. No archaeological finds noted by farmer.
