Summary

In 1827 three Saxon beads were found in a mound of earth called 'The Red Mound'. In 1845 a Roman lamp was also found at the same site and reputedly came from Carthage.

'Three crystal beads, discovered under a mound of earth called 'The Red Mound', in Thetford, Norfolk, in August 1827. Now deposited in the Museum at Norwich'.

R. R. Clarke (NCM) wondered whether the site was really the Red Mount at King's Lynn.
