Full description

?1920 to 1921.
Socketed and looped copper alloy axe from Blackdyke about 1924.
13.5cm (5.35") long in perfect condition. Has prominent V moulding at opening with fillet below and on each face 4 parallel 'beads' closed by pellets. Traces of a pellet are also to be seen at each angle in line with the others.

Socketed axe 11cm (4.4") long. Decorated on both faces with two raised ribs. Broad loop at one side. Square aperture. Found by a man ploughing in field in which fine socketed celt was found in 1924.
Obtained for CUMAE through Rev. T.G. Clarke.
