Summary

The White Cottages are almshouses, built in 1826 of yellow brick with stone dressings. These single storey buildings have hipped slate roofs and share six tall four-shafted brick ridge chimneys. The projecting centre bay has a Tudor-arched ribbed door flanked by two-light windows under a stepped gable. The almshouses stand within the Great Hospital Precinct (NHER 624).

Listing Description Excerpt:
"White Cottages at The Great Hospital, Bishopgate.
Almshouses. 1826. Yellow brick with stone dressings; hipped slate roof; six tall four-shafted brick ridge chimneys. Single storey; modified twelve-window range of casements with horizontal glazing bars."
