Summary
This by-passed broad has one of the deepest basins in the Bure Valley, reaching down in places to nearly 5m below the level of the surrounding fens. The north edge of the broad was, and is, deeply indented, with peninsulas and inlets, a pattern continued by submerged ridges within the broad itself and representing excavation in parallel doles. The broad gets its name from a decoy which operated here in the 18th century.

Full description
A by-passed broad with one of the deepest basins in the Bure Valley, reaching down in places to nearly 5m below the level of the surrounding fens, although much infilled with silt/mud. The north edge of the broad was, and is, deeply indented, with peninsulas and inlets, a pattern continued by submerged ridges within the broad itself and representing excavation in parallel doles. The broad gets its name from a decoy which operated here in the 18th century.
