Full description
October 1987. Listed, Grade II.
Listing Description:
Milestone, late 18th century, for Norwich and Thetford Turnpike Trust; limestone.
Wedge shaped, about 60cm high with rounded cap, tapering from 14 to 31 cm.
Recessed full width panels inscribed NORWICH / 4 / MILES and THETFORD / 25 / MILES.
The road was turnpiked in 1767.

The Milestone Society have advised that the stone is in fact of 19th century date.

2011-2013. Repair work by the Milestone Society.
Milestone Society members repaired the marker by joining the two sections by using a rein-bonding stainless rods. It was cleaned and painted and re-installed with a French drain below.
