Summary

Metal detecting between 2002 and 2007 recovered a Mesolithic flint blade; Mesolithic/Neolithic flint tranchet axeheads; a Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age flint scraper; Roman and medieval pottery sherds; post-medieval coins and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a medieval buckle; a medieval/post-medieval buckle and a post-medieval child's rowel spur, purse bar and copper alloy seal matrix.

Full description

2002-2003. Metal-detecting. Finder's Field T5.
Found amongst late post-medieval and recent metal objects:
1 Roman pottery sherd (sandy greyware base, weight 20g).
1 post-medieval coin (?William and Mary farthing, ?1694) and 1 child's copper alloy rowel spur fragment, one D-section side surviving, terminal missing, short neck, incomplete drooping rowel box (no rowel). ?17th century. Distance between arms at widest point estimated at 34mm.
