Summary

Metal detecting in 2002 recovered an Iron Age brooch, a Roman brooch and a medieval seal matrix and furniture fitting. Between January and May 2010 a metal-detecting and fieldwalking survey recovered Roman, Late Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery and a struck flint assemblage of Neolithic to Early Bronze Age date including cores, flakes, blades and scrapers.

January-May 2010. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey of proposed development area (Fields 13 and 14).
The survey recovered Roman, Late Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery and a struck flint assemblage of Neolithic to Early Bronze Age date including cores, flakes, blades and scrapers. An 18th to 19th century button, hammered silver half cut long cross penny of Henry II class 3 type (AD 1248 and 50) and fragment of lead were recovered during metal-detecting.
